Tri-State Area School Study Council

Lincoln Interactive is proud to announce the retention of The University of Pittsburgh’s Tri-State Area School Study Council to conduct a comprehensive audit and individual course evaluation of every Lincoln Interactive course. Using a three-tiered endorsement process, each Lincoln Interactive course is reviewed based on the rigor and quality of course content, instruction, and student achievement.

An article authored by Dr. Shellie Hipsky, Dr. Terry Doran, and Dr. Glenn Smartschan in the November, 2006 issue of The Forum revealed that the Lincoln Interactive Curriculum Team “welcomed the results of the student feedback survey as a lens to see the perceived truth about their curriculum, instruction, and distribution of materials.” In addition, Hipsky, Doran, and Smartschan noted that the results of the survey were used “to make changes based directly on what the students said that they needed.”

Results of the survey led to the following revisions to the Lincoln Interactive curriculum:

  • Instructional video podcasts have been uploaded to more than forty courses.
  • Unit Exams in the core courses have been revamped to ensure clear focus on the objectives of the lessons.
  • More discussion board activities have been implemented to allow for greater communication and support between students and teachers.
  • Multimedia applications have been instituted across the board, including Yesterday’s News, a Flash-based tool allowing teachers to create animations for introduction and review of lesson material.
  • New lab kits have been incorporated into multiple science courses to give students greater opportunity for hands-on activities.
