Language Arts 5 Part 2:


In Language Arts 5 Part 2, students will continue to learn and display proper writing strategies begun in Part 1. They will participate in various writing exercises such as developing a persuasive essay and a response to certain literature. They will also learn how to write a play and a tall tale. Some examples of the stories students will read are The Case of the Flying Saucer People, William Shakespeare and the Globe, and Frindle. Students will learn how to organize their writing into introduction, body, and concluding paragraphs. Students will continue to have daily spelling and vocabulary lessons. They will also continue their reading logs throughout this course. Additionally, students will learn about fact and opinion, figurative language, regular and irregular verbs, and different parts of speech. Students enrolled in this course will also be taught basic writing and reading skills that will prepare them for Language Arts 6.
